Joseph P. Aleo

Joseph P. Aleo, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:05 P.M., Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at the Casey Care Center in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Joseph was a retired Du Quoin businessman. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He was a Lifetime member of the American Legion and a Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a Past Commodore of Port Charlotte, Florida Yacht Club. He was a US Navy Veteran.
Joseph was born February 2, 1914 at Velarosa, Italy the son of Phillip and Josephine (Guieli) Aleo.
He married Katie E. Riggio on April 27, 1935 at Du Quoin, IL she passed away December 20, 1973, He then married Kay Aldridge on February 14, 1976 at Taylorville, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Taylorville, daughter- Antoinette Haner and husband Lyle of Du Quoin, three grandchildren- Cindy Pierce of Elkville, Alan Pierce and wife Debbie of Du Quoin, Kimbra Schafer and husband Kenton of Vergennes, four great grandchildren- Carol Jo Bedar, Sean Bedar, Anthony Pierce, Elizabeth Schafer,
two stepsons- David Aldridge and wife Diane of Taylorville, Terry Aldridge and wife Romania of Orlando, FL, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Katie, daughter- Josephine Pierce, two great grandsons- Mark Anthony and Martin Andrew Bedar, brother- Tony Aleo, two sisters- Jenney Megna and Lena Lima.
Funeral services were at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, May 25, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Friends called from 11:00 A.M. until 1:15 P.M. Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, the Rosary was said at 1:15 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Giving Campaign.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion Post.
